Mega-rich Jon Stewart attacks Mitt Romney for being rich

While the left certainly does not have a monopoly on hypocrisy, watching the wealthy leftist elites attack people for being rich is starting to become a farce. From Obama targeting corporate jets, while using Air Force One as his private taxi, to Michael Moore railing against the 1% with the occupy crowd – the left continually whips up populist anger at the rich, while living a lifestyle most could only dream of. Michael Moore eventually admitted to being one of the 1%, but in his own words he’s such a great guy that it doesn’t really count. (There are seriously factory guys cheering while he makes money in his post.)

And now talk show host Jon Stewart has taken his turn at whacking the wealthy. Earlier this week, he lashed out at Mitt Romney after his tax returns and low tax rate were made public.

“How in the world do you, Mitt Romney, justify making more in one day than the median American family makes in a year — while paying the same tax rate as the guy who scans shoes at the airport?”

While I could understand this from someone enduring gruelling hours in a hot factory, let’s take a moment and look at what Jon Stewart earned this year. According to Celebrity Networth, Jon Stewart earns 15 million a year and has an approximate net worth of 80 million dollars.

I’m going to admit that I’m not privy to his investment portfolio, but unless he’s giving it all to orphaned panda’s or down on their luck Solyndra executives – he’s going to be paying the same tax rate at Romney. And if you do some quick calculations, he’s earns over 40,000 a day. It’s not as much as Mitt Romney, but I’m willing to bet that it’s a lot more than most hard working Americans make. And when it comes to the left, it’s only a bad thing when someone on the right is doing it.
